Dr. Robert L. Treft, MD is very about the new developments in refractive surgery and the ability he has to help so many people see much better with the new technology that is now available.  He was one of the first physicians certified in Utah to use the FDA approved excimer lasers to correct vision problems with PRK and Lasik. He has also had Lasik himself several years ago by Dr. Lamont Ericson, and because of that, he understands the patient’s perspective accurately and compassionately.  He is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in refractive surgery, no-stitch cataract, micro-surgical and laser eye surgery.

Dr. Treft received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he graduated with high honors and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  He completed his specialty training in Ophthalmology at the University of Utah before leaving to open his private practice in Layton, Utah at the Davis Hospital and Medical Center in 1985.

Dr. Treft is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Utah Medical Association.  He remains an active member and past president of the Utah Ophthalmological Society, the Davis County Medical Society and the Davis Hospital and Medical Center.  In addition to serving as a clinical assistant professor of Ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, he is the director of the Mountain View Eye Center.

Dr. Treft is a native of Davis County and enjoys living here with his wife, Terrie and their five children.   He loves helping people see the world more clearly.

If you would like to learn more about the modern miracle of refractive surgery vision enhancement, please contact any of our staff members at the Mountain View Eye Center to ask your questions and/or schedule a free screening examination.

Dr. Bill Barlow, MD is excited to be a part of the Mountain View Eye Center’s physician team. He is currently available to see patients on Saturdays, once or twice each month, until July, 2008. At this time, he is finishing his final year of ophthalmology residency training at the Moran Eye Center and the University of Utah Medical Center. The emphasis of his final year will be on surgical training, specifically in the areas of cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and oculo-plastic surgery. During his residency training, he has worked diligently to obtain a broad fund of knowledge in ophthalmology and has scored in the 98th and 99th percentiles on his OKAP exams (board preparatory exams given annually to all ophthalmology residents in the USA and Canada).

Dr. Barlow received his medical degree in 2004 from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society (given to the top 10 percent of medical students).  He attended the University of Utah prior to medical school on academic and leadership scholarships, serving as the pre-medical honor society president in 2000.

Dr. Barlow is a native of Davis County and loves living here with his wife and two children.  He looks forward to helping you with your eye care needs and answering any questions you have about the exciting new technologies being developed in refractive and cataract surgery.

Dr. Adam Bowman, M.D has joined the Mountain View Eye Center in Layton as an Eye Physician and Surgeon.  He grew up in Bountiful, and is pleased to be back in Davis County to begin his career as an Ophthalmologist treating the eye care needs of Davis County.  He is joining Dr. Robert L. Treft, who has been practicing in the area for 22 years.

“It’s great to be home.  Davis County has grown so much since I left, but it still feels like the place I was born and raised.”  He and his wife Dori live in Layton with their four children.

Dr. Bowman graduated from Viewmont High School and served an LDS mission in South Africa before attending BYU.

Mountain View searched for months to find an adequate replacement for Dr. Lamont Ericson, who passed away earlier this year.  “It is clear from taking care of his patients, that Lamont was beloved by all who knew him.”

Dr. Bowman just finished his specialty training at the University of Virginia Health System.  As Chief Resident, he enjoyed directing the comprehensive eye clinic and teaching other residents.  Prior to moving to Charlottesville, Virginia, he completed his internship at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

He graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He maintained the Academic Scholarship throughout medical school.  As one of the top three percent in his class, he was a junior year inductee into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society.  Prior to medical school, he attended Brigham Young University, where he was a University Scholar and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Bowman manages a wide variety of medical and surgical eye care. These include cataract and refractive surgery as well as new treatments for macular degeneration.

Dr. Nolan Jepsen has been a part of the Mountain View Eye Center since 1998. He enjoys seeing and helping patients of all ages (babies to mature adults).  Along with helping patients with primary eye care needs, Dr. Jepsen is the office contact lens specialist. He is very skilled at fitting contact lenses and treating problems caused by contact lens wear; even the hardest of the ‘hard-to-fit’ contact lens wearers.

Previous to practicing, he attended Utah State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  While studying at USU, Dr. Jepsen was heavily involved in activities and associations with foreign students, and was awarded the President’s Diversity Award in recognition of his efforts.

After finishing at Utah State University, Dr. Jepsen attended Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon for his graduate studies.  During his education, he elected to do specialized work in Seattle with a pediatric population, and contact lens training at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City.  Having completed his training, Dr. Jepsen received his Doctor of Optometry degree with distinction.

When not at work, Dr. Jepsen enjoys activities with his wife and four children that include camping, mountain biking, home video editing, and yard work.  He is known for his clever humor, sincerity, and patience towards those he works with.  Dr. Jepsen is looking forward to serving you for your eye care needs.
