LASER EYE SURGERY
Because we get a lot of questions regarding the correction of vision problems
with the excimer laser, we thought it might be helpful to share with you, our
views on what is happening with laser eye surgery and tell you about a special
offer. Three years ago when LASIK surgery was not commonly performed in the state,
and most people had not heard of the procedure, Dr. Treft and Dr. Ericson
were already making headlines by performing the procedure on each other. After
studying and understanding the procedure since 1987, we wanted the benefits of
this great procedure for our own eyesight. Because of our study, we felt very
confident in proceeding with having the procedure performed on our own eyes ...
We still feel that way.
During the last five to ten years, the refractive surgery market has undergone
incredible advances from procedures such as RK to PRK and the current standard
of LASIK. There has been a lot of commercialized hype accompanying this transformation
that has created a lot of confusion. We believe that there are important principles
that you should consider in your own decision about corrective eye surgery:
- Laser surgery is "surgery".
- Studies have indicated that LASIK surgery outcome,
is highly surgeon dependant. We believe that surgeons who do their own pre-operative
and post-operative management know their patients better, and have fewer operative
and post operative errors.
- Discount laser centers cut too much quality along with their price.
We believe that a compromise is not acceptable where the health
of your eyes is concerned.
The Mountain View
Eye Center has been in existence for over a decade and a half. We continue
to care for and follow our patients one at a time, with attention to
detail, as we would for our own eyes. We believe in the Hippocratic
oath and "practice medicine with conscience and dignity," so
that "the health and life of my patient will be my first consideration."
If you or someone you know is contemplating corrective eye surgery please
call to schedule a free screening to investigate all of your surgical
